Costumes take FOREVER!

I have not posted a new costume in a couple of years.  Someone probably has noticed.  Ever since Old Navy jumped on the costume band-wagon, I just haven't been able to compete on price selling on eBay.  Sad, because I did enjoy the creativity.

I did a bat for my daughter this year.  I wished it had come out better.  I can think of some tweaks I'd do if I did it again.  Still cute!
I would have preferred the collar to have more drama. And I just keep thinking that the whole dress should have been fur!  Woah! That sure would have been warm!

Cupcake Hat Cupcake Headband

Here's a little something I whipped up. This is too cute!  Totally perfect for Halloween or a birthday party!

This is the first one I made, just off the top of my head (pun was totally unintended, but cute) I think I could do better if I do it again.  It's ruffled felt and some stuffing.  It's really big, which I think is so cute about it.  It stands about 5" high and is also about 5" across.

Strawberry Hat for Cupcake Costume

I love the Cupcake Cotumes! There are a variety of styles and makers selling Cupcakes this year! And there are quite a few EUCs available on Ebay! I got my start costuming with the Pottery Barn cupcake Costume and it will always be special to me.
I'm have noticed that many re-sale costumes are missing the adorable Strawberry Hat that goes with the costume. Which is completely the "icing on the cake"

I'm selling the Strawberry Hats! Visit my Ebay Listing!

French Fry Hat for Hamburger Costume

I'm also offering the French Fry hats again this year! These REALLY make the outfit!

Check out my Ebay listing or email me to purchase.

Birthday Costume -- Cupcake Princess

Costumes are definitely not just for Halloween.  Beside the fact that my little girls wear princess dresses everywear they go, I think Birthdays totally call for costumes!
My daughter's 3rd birthday was a generic princess themed party.  I knew all the little princess friends would wear their favorite Disney character, and I wanted the birthday girl to stand out.
This is what I came up with:
I did use a pre-fab tulle skirt for the 'frosting' but the rest of the dress is based on a simplicity pattern.  The bottom is pleated cotton for the 'paper'.  The top is 'Swiss Dot', meant to resemble Eurpean bakery papers.  She loved it!  She wore it for about 8 days straight!

You be the Judge

I stole this picture from Ebay, (left) someone selling the real potterybarn costume, actually worn by a real kid (not a stock photo.)     And the one on the right is my Costume Clever knock-off.

Costumes from year's gone by

Last my girls were princesses.  I sure learned a lot of lessons on how to work with tule!
  My friend's daughter as Tinkerbelle.
